The green-copper ship-shaped science museum near Centraal has a free rooftop terrace open until 17:30-19:00 depending on season. Wide view over the harbor and city center, and you don’t need a museum ticket to access the roof if you take the outside stairs. Best sunset spot for zero dollars.
Zandvoort beach
The North Sea coast, 30 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal by train ($8 return). Beach faces west so sun drops straight into the water. Post up at a strandtent (beach bar) like Woodstock69 or Ajuma with a $6 beer. Best April-October when the beach clubs are open.
Amstel river at Berlage Bridge
