Conscious Hotel Vondelpark includes free bike loan for guests — decent Dutch city bikes, not e-bikes, and you’ll queue at breakfast to grab one. Zoku Amsterdam includes bikes in the room rate. citizenM Amsterdam has free bike hire but only 20 or so bikes for 200-plus rooms, so it's first-come. Sweets Hotel Amsterdam gives you a bike with every booking and pinpoints good rides on a paper map — small operation, works.

Outside the city, Grand Hotel Opduin on Texel includes bikes in most rates and Texel has 140km of dedicated cycle paths — this is the single best hotel-plus-bike combination in Noord-Holland. Landal Beach Park Texel effectively includes bikes too. On the mainland, Parkhotel Bergen and Hotel Nassau Bergen both loan bikes free to guests.

Paid but worth it, and what to skip

Hotel V Fizeaustraat rents e-bikes at €25/day — worth it if you’re heading to Waterland (Broek in Waterland, Marken, Volendam is a great 40km loop from Amsterdam-Oost). Waldorf Astoria and The Dylan both have paid bike rental (€22-30/day) that's overpriced for what you get; the bikes are fine, the price isn’t. MacBike and Yellow Bike shops rent for €15-18/day and are on almost every corner.

The honest advice: a free hotel bike is worth it in Amsterdam only if you’re planning to actually cycle daily; otherwise rent for the day you want it. Outside Amsterdam — especially on Texel and in the Bergen/Egmond dune area — hotel bikes save real money and time because rental shops close early and are further apart.
